Who Is It For?
Professional whitening works best on natural teeth that have darkened from coffee, tea, red wine, smoking or simply age. It is a good first step if you are considering cosmetic treatment, because a lighter natural shade sometimes removes the need for veneers altogether. Whitening does not change the colour of existing crowns, veneers or fillings, so if you have restorations in the smile line we will plan the order of treatment with you. It is not recommended during pregnancy or for patients with untreated decay or active gum disease, which we check first.
How the Treatment Works
We begin with an examination and a professional clean, because surface staining often accounts for part of the discolouration. Your gums are then isolated with a protective barrier and a hydrogen peroxide gel is applied to the teeth in two or three cycles of roughly fifteen minutes each. A single in-clinic session takes about an hour and typically lightens teeth by several shades. Where a more gradual change is preferred, we provide custom-made trays and a lower-concentration gel for home use over ten to fourteen days.
Your Treatment in İzmir
In-clinic whitening is completed in one appointment, so it is easy to combine with a short stay or add to another treatment. Many patients have it on the same trip as a check-up or a professional clean. The price is fixed and quoted in advance, and there are no additional laboratory costs. If you choose the home kit as well, the trays are made during the same visit.
Aftercare and Longevity
Results generally last between one and two years, depending on your diet and whether you smoke. For the first forty-eight hours, avoid coffee, tea, red wine, tomato-based sauces and other strongly coloured foods, as the enamel is temporarily more absorbent. Some patients notice mild sensitivity for a day or two; we apply a desensitising agent at the end of the session to reduce this. A top-up session or a short course of home gel keeps the result stable.
