Dental Implants at Key Smile

An implant is a titanium screw placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once a crown is fitted on top, both appearance and chewing function return as close to a natural tooth as possible. Unlike a bridge, it does not require the healthy neighbouring teeth to be cut down — which is why it is usually the first choice when a single tooth is missing.

Who Is It For?

It suits patients missing one or several teeth whose jawbone is sufficient to hold an implant. If bone volume is inadequate, an implant can be placed together with a graft; this changes both the treatment time and the cost, and is stated separately in your plan. Uncontrolled diabetes and heavy smoking adversely affect healing.

How the Treatment Works

At the first visit the implant is placed into the jawbone under local anaesthesia; you feel no pain during the procedure. The bone then needs three to six months to heal around the implant. At the second visit an impression is taken and the permanent crown is fitted. For front teeth a temporary tooth is provided during the waiting period, so you are never left with a gap.

Your Treatment in İzmir

The first visit takes three to five days and the second four to seven. You spend the interval between visits at home. We arrange your airport transfer and accommodation.

Aftercare and Longevity

The implant itself can last for decades with good care. The crown on top may need replacing after ten to fifteen years due to wear. Regular brushing, interdental cleaning and an annual check-up are the factors that most determine how long an implant lasts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is getting an implant painful?

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia, so you feel no pain while the implant is placed. Mild swelling and tenderness for two or three days afterwards is normal and is easily managed with the prescribed painkillers. Most patients return to normal daily life the next day. If you experience more pain than expected, prolonged swelling or a fever, we ask you to contact us — such cases are rare, but acting early matters.

How many months do I have to wait?

The bone needs three to six months to heal around the implant; this varies with your bone density and where the implant was placed. The lower jaw generally heals faster than the upper. The waiting period is a clinical necessity — shortening it increases the risk of the implant failing over the long term.

What if I don't have enough bone?

If bone volume is insufficient, a bone graft can be carried out. This may be done in the same session as the implant, or planned as a separate stage. Which applies is visible on your panoramic X-ray and is written into your treatment plan along with its effect on time and cost.

Can an implant be rejected?

Titanium is well tolerated by the body and allergic rejection is extremely rare. The real risk is the implant failing to integrate fully with the bone, which is usually linked to smoking, uncontrolled diabetes or poor oral hygiene. With appropriate patient selection and regular check-ups this risk is low.
